Astromill
(UK) - Isn't It A Pity
Astromill at present consists solely
of singer /songwriter/ keyboardist Sheryl McMillan.
Like many of us, Sheryl recalls with fondness the years
of the late 1970's and early
'80's as a time of great change and experimentation
in pop music and much of her
work bears the lasting influence of artists like The
Fixx, Thomas Dobly, Gary Numan etc.
Astromill HQ is located in sunny Kent England where
a dimly lit room is often aglow
with the blinking lights and strange buzzings of musical
machines built a long time
ago in a land far away. |

Audiodoll
(USA) - Son Of A Gun
Audiodoll was born in September 2003
out of Andrea Ashdown's inspiration to express her insightful,
yet cynical, lyrics over a unique blend of upbeat electronic
dance music with a dark edge. Andrea's previous musical
endeavors include working as a vocalist and songwriter
for the synthpop/ebm project, Glis. You will find Andrea's
vocals and/or lyrics on many of the songs that make
up the first Glis album, Extract (ADSR Musicwerks, Seattle).
Two remixed tracks from Extract, featuring Andrea's
vocals, appear on Glis’ follow-up album Balance
(Alfa Matrix, Brussels) and have also appeared on various
compilations (Triton, Cyberpolis, Latex Records).

Fr/action
(USA) - My Heart Goes Bang
Fr/action is the brainchild of David
Friede, otherwise known as the co-founder of Cohaagen
Music and one half of the acclaimed analog electropop
duo Ganymede. A graduate of USC's prestigious film school,
Friede created Fr/action as a way of combining his love
for exploitation cinema and electronic music. Fr/action's
hard-hitting technopop serves as the perfect backdrop
for Friede's futuristic tales of violence and revenge,
resulting in an aural grindhouse experience quite unlike
any other. Formerly a resident of Los Angeles, CA, Friede
has recently relocated to the Iron City of Pittsburgh,
PA. |

Heaven
Bent (USA) - Hooked
On Love
Heaven Bent first formed in 1995 in York
by Michael Ellinger and Linda Murdaugh. Heaven Bent
is a culmination of great musical, personal, and spiritual
change for both members of the band. Heaven Bent's music
conveys a positive message that is refreshing in today's
music scene. Introspective messages of love, loss, faith,
and hope intertwined with lush, creative electronic
compositions make for a compelling approach toward electronic
music that can not be easily categorized. Michael's
varied modern influences along with Linda's classically
trained abilities has produced a very unique and appealing
style of electronic bliss.

Ganymede
(USA) - Lover Come Back
To Me
Ganymede is the musical duo of Patrick
Runkle and David Friede. Their innovative electronic
pop music is a sophisticated hybrid of vintage analog
synthesizers and the latest in modern production technology.
Though their songs may be stylistically diverse, infectious
hooks, powerful melodies, club-ready dance beats, and
intelligent lyrics are the common elements. For exciting,
original electropop that's just as comfortable on the
radio as on the dancefloor. |

The
Dignity of Labour (USA) - In
Too Deep
The Dignity of Labour owes a great deal
of gratitude to eighties artists who sparked a
deep appreciation of synth-driven pop. Covering a DOA
classic seemed only natural for this artist emerging
from the ashes of synthpop yesterdays. TDOL has already
broken
new ground with its debut single 'XRV' on label A Different
Drum, and a new album is planned for 2005.

Spray
(UK) - You Spin Me Round
( Like A Record)
Spray are an English synthesiser duo.
They rose from the ashes of sampling terrorists the
Cuban Boys, an underground band who scored a million-selling
Christmas hit single in the UK and were consequently
never heard of again. As Spray they are famous for their
mega goth floorfiller 'I Am Gothic' and for their reworking
of the theme from 'Battle Of The Planets', but have
also been partly responsible for the party favourite
'Rhinestone Cowboy (Giddy Up Giddy Up)' and a number
of psuedonymous trance records. Spray's full length
CD 'Living In Neon' is available on Ninthwave, and they
are currently recording and writing the follow up |

Andromeda
Rising (UK) - Black
Leather
UK dance/nu-NRG artist, Andromeda Rising,
was born of the need to put some grrrowl back into pop.
“There are few artists making commercial dance
music with BITE” rings true with many, and this
new UK project aims to bite hard and recreate a certain
definitive sub-culture within pop music. Alongside his
own solo projects, Andromeda Rising has been working
re-interpreting and remixing the work of other established
and up and coming British and European artists. A new
Andromeda Rising information website and demo album
will be available soon.

Baxendale
(UK) - Come Home With Me
Baby
Baxendale. A name like a flaming sword.
Guided by a holdy leader on speed, inflamed by rage.
Rage against the fucking rich or whoever else is in
the way. Isn't this exactly how that name sounds like?
But if you don't know the band yet, then the name just
sounds like an english word that doesn't exist at all.
What a waste! What a waste of tear pushing hedonism
to not yet know this band! |
